How do you install a wireless mouse on Dell Mini 9 with no CD drive?

Asked by alley

I just a Dell Mini 9 with Ubuntu OS. I am at a loss as to how to get the bluetooth wireless mouse that I purchased with it to work since the Mini has no CD drive.

It's probable that the software on the CD won't be useful anyway. It most likely contains only windows and maybe mac drivers but not Linux. However, you should still be able to just pair the device and it will work. What might now work is non-standard buttons. Posting information on the mouse in question (like make/model) might help others determine what issues you may have and how to address them.

What do you mean by "pair" the device?
Thanks for your help.

With bluetooth devices the connection process is called pairing. You should be able to put the mouse in "discoverable" mode (check the documentation on how to do that) and then select the bluetooth tool in Ubuntu and search for devices. It "should" find the mouse and let you set it up. That is pretty much it, but I have found that bluetooth is often a bit of a hassle. Hopefully it will connect right up for you.

thanks for your help.  Come to find out my Mini9 does not have the bluetooth capability so it will not detect the mouse.
