Where is my Win partition

Asked by Mike Cap

I had a " Drive C" -- Win XP HDD Partition -- icon on my desktop.
Don't know how it got there originally, but it sure was handy. ( i am new to all this)
Now I need to see some files but the icon has disappeared, and can't get it back. File manager doesn't see the other partion.
How did it get there originally and how do I fix it?
The only thing I did recently was try to set up my LAN, couldn't do it so I reverted it back. I just use the gateway for Internet access, just like it was originally.

Thanks
Mike

Are you sure that the file manager does not see the partition? Go to Places > Computer, and have another look.. the partition could also appear as xx.x GB Media.

Yes it solved my problem, namely the warning that XP has to be properly shut-down.
So the problem was that the slothful WinXP just gets on my nerves!!!
So i was using shortcut -- the Think Pad has On-Off button -- I would simply shut it off.
But i guess all kinds of flags can stay set that way.
thanx
Mike
