adding support for sid in PPA

Asked by John Vivirito

Is there any plans to support Debian builds on PPA. Here are some thoughts on why this would be a great feature:

1. After reading https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/launchpad/+faq/36 It looks to be possible.

2. Building Debian packages in PPA would mean we can share our packages with Debian users/devs
This allows us to make testing and upload to Debian a lot easier.

3. We build packages for Debian as well as grabbing packages from Debian. Here is an example:
We build and maintain a newer version of Sunbird since we normally have newer packages we build off of ours
with the ice* branding as well and atm the Mozilla team only has 1 person that can push to Debian archives. This
will allow us to ease the testing upload process to make it easier to test and upload this lightens the load on our
only Debian dev on the team.

Sorry #3 is very long its on the early side here

I'm sure i missed a few from the thoughts i had on Monday'ish..

Hi

Doing Debian PPAs is something that I'd like to do! We have bug 188564 about this if you want to follow it.

Regards,

I want this and love the idea. I have been thinking about
this for a while now and there is one problem i ran into.

Problem: sid stays untable/testing so all
packages get updates all the time. Is this a problem for
Soyuz to keep up with the packages? If not than we are
going to have a lot of failed builds

I think this is answered and the discussion can continue on the bug.

Please don't open the question again if you wish to answer... ;-)
