Launch pad internal error OOPS-1670CMP1.

Asked by Wayne Stambaugh

I attempted to submit a merge request and got this reply from Lauchpad:

Launchpad encountered an internal error during the following operation: creating a merge proposal from message with subject [MERGE] This is a test for the Kicad Launchpad merge proposal list.. It was logged with id OOPS-1670CMP1. Sorry for the inconvenience.

A quick search on this list for OOPS-1670CMP1 came up empty. I used Thunderbird 3.1.1 with Enigmail 1.1.2 on Windows XP SP3 and Bazaar version 2.1.1 to send the request. The request was made from a unpublished local branch on my system with submit_branch = lp:kicad/testing in locations.conf. If you need any additional information please let me know. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Wayne

You have hit a known bug.

Any chance you can work around it by pushing the branch directly?

Yes, but it defeats the purpose. We have quite a few developers in our project who contribute very infrequently with minimal merge requests. The extra work of pushing a development branch to Launchpad is probably more than these developers should be expected to learn. It would be nice if bzr send worked as well for local private branches as it does for public branches pushed to Launchpad. We are currently using the mailing list for patch requests which tends to break down quickly and merge requests get lost. Using the Launchpad merge request feature is preferable to the mailing list. So while you did answer my question, it doesn't really solve my problem. Maybe it will fixed in the next release of Bazaar or someone could add a form to the merge request page to upload a merge bundle directly. Thanks again for the help.

It isn't a problem with getting the bundle, the problem is with applying the
bundle to a stacked branch. That is what is failing.

Can you help with this problem?
