I believe that might just be a bad translation for the word "compositing". Docky needs the window manager to support compositing to run properly. To turn on compositing, please type this command in a terminal:

gconftool-2 -s --type bool /apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager true

and then restart docky.

I suppose you're right about my aproximative traduction but i ran this command and nothing better... I use compiz instead of metacity... perhaps it is a different command ?

In addition after verify this key in gconf, it is already at true... And all my windows have a opacity rule in compiz (around 80%) who work correctly. I just have no transparency on the first 3-4 seconds after boot. (time to start compiz ?)

So do you get this error if you start docky after your computer is fully
started? We are aware of a problem where docky can start before the window
manager (compiz in this case), and will warn that there is no compositing
enabled.

I don't have the message if docky is started after boot.
Thanks for your help, and i'll wait for an update for this known problem.

Thanks again
