Is there anyway to create a bootable iso and have the live usb/cd image boot into the operating system without user input like the system is fully functional and installed on the usb stick or cd. I am trying to create an image that allows the system to boot directly into linux without prompting for trying linux or going through the installation process. Thanks.

Yes, this should be possible.

Just use two USB sticks, one with the Ubuntu installation .iso burnt on it (or a DVD), and another empty one (with say at least 16 GB capacity)

Boot the installation USB stick (or DVD), select "Install Ubuntu" and install to the other USB stick.

You have to be cautious that you correctly install the grub boot loader to that USB stick and not to the hard disk!

If you later start your computer with the second USB stick plugged in (and the BIOS set to boot from USB devices with higher priority than the built-in hard disk), the computer should boot into the Ubuntu installation on the USB stick, without any question whether it should install Ubuntu. You have to be aware, that (different from a live system from an installer USB stick where you are not asked for a password) you will have to enter the correct password as defined during creation of that second USB stick when starting Ubuntu that way (unless you set autologin).
