Unable to authorize computer to sync to Ubuntu One in KDE 4.4 SC Beta 2

Asked by Jonathan Jesse

I have two laptops running Kubuntu 9.10, one the netbook edition and one running the regular edition of Karmic. On the netbook i have added/authorized that one to Ubuntu One and am able to use the file sync etc of Ubuntu One. However on my main computer I have added Ubuntu One after updating to KDE 4.4 SC Beta 2 and am unable to authorize the computer to sync w/ Ubuntu ONe.

Don't know if this should be a bug report or is just a question.

Let em know if need more information

THanks,

Jonathan

Update to this question:

I have been hearing a lot about how cool Tomboy sync is so I installed Tomboy and setup sync following the guide on the wiki, when I changed the server in Tomboy to a Tomboy Web server which defaults to one.ubuntu.com was asked to authenticate via my launchpad openid. This added my computer then to my Ubuntu One account.

There needs to be a better way for those that don't want to add Tomboy + all the other GNOME stuff that comes with it

Jonathan: at the moment, the Ubuntu One client software integrates best with Gnome. Work is going on to remove some of these dependencies so that it will work without Gnome around (for instance, a port to KDE is being worked on).

Can you help with this problem?
