how to use youtube downloader

Asked by Ketan

I have downloaded and installed the youtube downloader in UBUNTU 9.04 through the synaptic package manager. But I cannot figure out any way to use it. In the snapshot of the package in the synaptic, it showed some lines just like some notepad or the Terminal. Do we have to type the downloading link in this terminal. If yes, where to hunt for this Terminal like looking thing?

Is there any video converter in the UBUNTU version of youtube downloader, or are there any other converter applications?

There are lots. Go to synaptic and type "video convert" and pick one.
I use "winff" its fairly simple.

Hope that helps
Shane

BTW I found another way out which is even simple and gets you HD and HQ (high quality) videos as well. In the address bar just type the following code:
For HD video:
javascript:window.location.href%20=%20'http://youtube.com/get_video?video_id='%20+%20swfArgs['video_id']%20+%20"&fmt=22"%20+%20"&l="%20+%20swfArgs['l']%20+%20"&sk="%20+%20swfArgs['sk']%20+%20'&t='%20+%20swfArgs['t'];
For HQ video:
javascript:window.location.href%20=%20'http://youtube.com/get_video?video_id='%20+%20swfArgs['video_id']%20+%20"&fmt=18"%20+%20"&l="%20+%20swfArgs['l']%20+%20"&sk="%20+%20swfArgs['sk']%20+%20'&t='%20+%20swfArgs['t'];
For normal flv video:
javascript:window.location.href%20=%20'http://youtube.com/get_video?video_id='%20+%20swfArgs['video_id']%20+%20"&l="%20+%20swfArgs['l']%20+%20"&sk="%20+%20swfArgs['sk']%20+%20'&t='%20+%20swfArgs['t'];
Alternatively you can simply store these codes as bookmarks. I found this solution on "unlock for us".

Enjoy....
