error msgs after upgrading to 12.04

Asked by biju

Hi,
I have upgraged to ubuntu 12.04 from 11.10. And i am also using gnome classic.
Regulary an Error msg pops up on the screen saying internal error. It says:-

Executable path
 /usr/share/apport/apport-gpu-error-intel.py

Package
 xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.17.0-1ubuntu4

Problem Type
 crash

Apportversion
 2.0.1-0ubuntu7

and so on..

This msgs pops up regulary.
And Second problem i am facing is, I am unable to change to font color in the taskbar of gnome classc. The taskbar color and the font color are the same. Gnome Advanced Setting and Ubuntu Tweak which couldnt resolve the problem.

Similarly, the Battery Indicator Button is not visible in the taskbar.

I am new to ubuntu and i am using Dell latptop with Intel Pentium.

Help me in resolving this issues.

thanking you,
Biju

Maybe I'm being a bit slow here. By default 12.04 does not come with gnome classic; it comes with the Unity desktop and this can be used in 3D (normal default) or 2D mode if the video chipset can't handle the 3D properly. Please say how you did the upgrade. Was it from the updater or the DVD?

My best advice is to backup absolutely everything before you do anything else. Then I would download the iso, burn a DVD and do a clean install. It sounds as though your upgrade has not worked properly. You should be seeing the Unity launcher and not Gonme classic so something is badly wrong. Save your stuff before the whole thing dies on you.

Does the crash cause a problem? Does it occur again when you re-boot? I have very little experience of Ubuntu running on wubi. The general advice seems to be that wubi is fine if you are an occasional user of ubuntu but if you use it all the time, you would be better with a native Ubuntu installation. See http://askubuntu.com/questions/tagged/wubi for more information. You could try posting your problem there as it is devoted to wubi users.
