NVIDiA S-VIdeo output

I have a NVidia card and with the computer screen all run wery well. I Find in my graphic card an output
S-Video... I connect the S-Video Output to my S-Video Input of my DVD-RECORDER. At the start of my computer
I SEE on my two screen(Computer Screen & TV-SCREEN+DVD Recorder), the same Ubuntu 9.10 logo...
But when Ubuntu change the Computer Screen in a new graphic mode(1360 X 768) No more signal seems to
be sent in the S-Video Output (graphics card)...?

When you open a terminal and type

gksudo nvidia-settings

is your configuration set to Separate X Windows?

Dear,

I try something to know if my computer can use my graphic card
to display the content of my screen. I start my computer without any
other connection. The computer's screen is an LCD TV with a VGA connector
with a standard resolution of 1360 x 768. After Ubuntu is launched
i connect the S-Video Cable in between my graphic Card to my DVD RECORDER.
(I select the S-Video source on my DVD Recorder and start my home TV as
the Output of my DVD Recorder).

After all the hardware is ON, I launch the Administration/NVIDIA X Server settings
program and i select the option Detect Displays. A second screen appeared.
The TV-0 with a resolution of 1024 x 768. Then I select the Option TwinView
and i select option clones. I mark Make this primary Display for the X screen
on MY LCD TV(Main Monitor).

After, i look to my home TV connected to my DVD-Recorder and the content
of my computer screen was displayed in... All was OK, except... the
screen resolution of my home TV... was to narrow for my computer Screen
(1024 VS 1360)... a little loss of image....

At the End... i recorded a session of my Knowledge Office for Ubuntu program
with a look on each of options of the KO-Ubuntu program.

Once again, same question asked, no solution, marked solved....................

In my case, it's a Dell D830. S video out works great under windoze XP.
Yes, configuration IS set to Seperate X windows -- the other two options are grayed out anyway......

OK,

Figured it out... Here's the real solution, hope this helps some of the many looking for a solution.........

Step one. Do either A OR B
 -A. During a fresh install of Ubuntu, you will be asked if you want to install restricted drivers. Make sure you are connected to the internet and click yes (or click install restricted drivers). Make sure you get the driver for your video card..... Restart Ubuntu..

-B. Install the restricted driver for your video card. Go to system settings (under the system menu in older Ubuntu distros or the power switch menu in unity -- power switch menu is in the upper right corner of the screen -- looks like a light switch -- left click, scroll down to system settings....) Click on "Additional Drivers" ... Click on the recommended driver for your video card. Click Activate. Restart Ubuntu...

Step two:
-Hook up your svideo display to your ubuntu computer's s-video jack.
-Go to system settings again.
-Click on "Nvidia Xserver settings" (or similiar for your brand of video card...) NOTE: Do NOT click on "Display" or "Monitors" as this will not take you to the right place....
-Click on the line labeled "X Server Display Configuration"
-Click detect (note, this is not the same as the similarly labeled button under the display or monitor control panel)
-You will see another display shown next to your main display. It should be labeled TV-0
-Click on this smaller display
-Next to the word "configure" it SHOULD say "Separate X Screen"
--IF IT DOES NOT, click "Configure"
--Select "separate"
--Click "OK"
-Click "Save to X Configuration file"
-Click "Close"

Step 3
-Restart Ubuntu
-Enjoy your S-video Output!!! :o)
