Nvidia hates me. all "supported" drivers fail at boot.

I have tried googling the ION's drivers, as there are none at nvidia. I found that the ion uses geforce 9400 drivers, so i downloaded them from nvidia and installed. in the install it went through basically compiling my kernel. Everything was fine and dandy until it couldn't find a kernel at boot. i have tried envy, and ubuntu 185 and 173 nvidia drivers.

    Hard to do since I'm not familiar with those and can't speak from experience, but have had luck with nVidia chips before, so...
     I did a search on this myself, using just "nvidia ion drivers linux", and first thing that popped up was:

     Since I'm not sure about your chip specs otherwise, this is just a suggestion, but seems the individual eventually had good luck using "envyng" from the Synaptic Package Manager". Know you must be frustrated right now, and will ask if that is the one you have tried. Writer of the indicated article had no luck with straight 'envy' package either, so I am hoping this is you answer. (Article worth reading, I scanned and found those who followed had good luck with Compiz as well as all settings for the ION.)

Well, actually I found out somewhere that I should try uninstalling the drivers and removing the nvidia kernel in /etc/init.d I did that and reinstalled and it works! now I need to get opengl working though: It still doesn't work, but all the fancy effects do!
