Lost Color ubuntu 12.04

Please define "lost color"! Do you see everything in black and white?
Also, please open the Terminal, enter the (exact) command below and post the output for us:

lshw -c display

also what is the output of:

sudo dmidecode -t 1; lsb_release -a; uname -a

 It is not B & W but it is highly degraded. At one time the color was very good..not excellent. I have an older boc running Ubuntu 8.10 or something and the colors are vivid. This one has neber been that good.

I am in the process of upgrading to 12.10 step by step. The color has not improved. I ran an update on the xorg intel video card. The system said it was the latest version.
