There are often (not always) other options.

But before suggesting an alternative, we need to know the exact model and make of the physical audio device that you want to connect/sync with the PC.

You must install iTunes either on a VirutalBox (Windows) or via Wine or PlayOnLinux (programs).

Apple does not support Linux.

For a wine(PlayOnLinux) - iTunes installation , read the links below

Thanks

If you do not need to sync with such an external physical audio player, then you can use these replacements for itunes:

I first suggest trying out musique (http://flavio.tordini.org/musique), which can run on Windows, GNU/Linux and Mac OS X.

musique (http://flavio.tordini.org/musique)
Amarok (http://amarok.kde.org/)
Aqualung (http://aqualung.factorial.hu/misc.html)
aTunes (http://www.atunes.org/)
Banshee (http://banshee-project.org/Main_Page)
Decibel Auto Player (http://decibel.silent-blade.org/)
Exaile (http://www.exaile.org/)
gmusicbrowser (http://gmusicbrowser.org/)
gtkpod (http://www.gtkpod.org/)
Listen (http://listengnome.free.fr/)
Quod Libet (http://code.google.com/p/quodlibet/)
Rhythmbox (http://www.gnome.org/projects/rhythmbox/)
