Asked by Mark S Sears

I need to run a PC based program called Therascribe on my MAC. I bought Parallels Desktop (emulator), and now need to download Windows operating system. Can I download Ubuntu instead and use it to run my program?

It's not in the Wine appdb, you can try it with:

sudo apt-get install wine

do not understand the 2nd part of the answer. did look up in the Wine appdb, and it isn't there. Should I try using Wine instead of Ubuntu?

Wine is an application for Ubuntu. It's like saying

"Should I try Winzip instead of Windows XP"

It's nonesense.

Install Wine then try your app, as it's not in the appdb you are walking in unchartered terrirtory.

Can you help with this problem?
