No internet after installing vmware on 11.10

After installing VMware player on 2 laptops we were unable to access the internet.

Both laptops use a wireless connection.

On laptop with 10.04, un-installing vmware player restored access to the internet, but on the laptop with 11.10

un-installing vmware player did not resolve the problem.

We checked with the IT department of the building we are in and found that vmware's spoofing of mac addresses caused one of the laptops to be blacklisted. I guess the laptop with 10.04 just got fixed quick enough to not be caught by the firewall.
