vlc record button doesnt turn blue

hi trying to record a dvd and as it plays I press red record button and it does not turn blue?

Can you give the output of:

lsb_release -a; uname -a; apt-cache policy vlc

Try:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:n-muench/vlc
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

This will give VLC 2.0

Hi
 having upgraded to latest VLC
 I am still unable to record what I am watching (DVD)
as the red button will not turn blue for me!?

Replying to the automated email and attaching a file doesn't work, you will need to use imagur or photobucket etc. This wil make a URL of the image we can view
