Reverting back to classic vi preinstalled on Ubuntu

Asked by Giles Farrington

I installed vim the other day, but my professor gave a step by step project that needs to be done in the pre-installed vi. Vim replaced vi, and I was wondering if there was any way to use the original vi pre-installed on Ubuntu after installing vim.

Hi ,

try this

sudo update-alternatives --config editor

see if vi listed there , and select it for default editor.

Thanks
