Asked by Lucas Andrew Adams

Yeah so all i want to do with this external hard drive is to format it to NTFS again and start over. Disk utility is never able to do anything with the external hard drive- it can't mount it format it, or anything. Gparted sees that its there buyt no matter what operation I chose for it to do to the drive it says that the drive has an operation pending or is unavailable. Please help.

If you want to format it you can use dban or dd to zero out the drive. This should remove any flags about busy / operation pending, etc

Can you help with this problem?
