Are the free mp3 codecs that are installed with ubuntu supposed to allow you to listen to wma as well? Mine do.

What does "Mine do" mean in this context, It seems disjointed....

If you add the medibuntu repo you can install the 32codecs (I assume you are running 32bit OS). You can also get MP3 decoders by installing ubuntu-restricted-extras

At the time I was installing Ubuntu on my 64-bit system, I was asked if I wanted to install the free, yet fully licensed fluendo MP3 codec. I said yes. I noticed that I also have the ability to play wma files using Rhythmbox. Should I be able to play mp3's only with that codec or wma as well?

Then install the w64codecs from medibuntu
