how to play?

I just want to ask for playing movies in ubuntu i need some codec like in windows we install K-lite codec pack, so we need to install some codecs to play every formats of movie?
Plz help.

Installing the package called "ubuntu-restricted-extras", if it's not already installed, is usually sufficient. You can do that in Applications > Ubuntu Software Center. You might also find it useful to enable the Medibuntu repository. If video doesn't play already, and doesn't play after you install "ubuntu-restricted-extras", then see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats and https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu. Yep. I would suggest installing the 'ubuntu-restricted-extras' package.
