Can't find any Audio Video Codecs

Thanks for introducing such a powerfull OS.
I have a question for you that i don't find any codecs for playing
Audio Video formats such as(.dat, .flv, .mp3, .mpg, .wma) etc. Can you
please tell me how can i get these codecs.
If you have any of them please forward to me.
I have Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop Edition

software center ubuntu restricted extra .
 open center then in the window at the top right type in ubuntu restricted extra then install .

You want to install one of the following packages (just ONE):

Ubuntu: ubuntu-restricted-extras

Kubuntu: kubuntu-restricted-extras

Xubuntu: xubuntu-restricted-extras

You can install it using Synaptic Package Manger, KPackageKit, Software Center, or the Terminal
