Last Linux Kernel upgrade unexpected EOF string

Filing ths Question (/Report) from a 'live Disk':

I am attempting a reinstall of Ubuntu over the old install because of an unrecoverable corrupted browser file (see previous report from earlier today: Saturday May 20. 2017. I get as far as the final usage of Terminal, (sudo apt-get upgrade command), but the the last Ubuntu Linux Kernal upgrade from the U.S. Archive server FAILS Error code 1. Unexpected End of File String. I also notice that the capability for making an Ubuntu Internet connection is Disabled in the Operating System at this point. Repeated Attempts to install this upgrade package Fail because it keeps trying to unpack the Bad downloaded package with the EOF string.

So how do we fix this to get an uncorrupted Linux Kernal Upgrade?

Sunday May 21, 2017. I had further compounding Firefox Browser issues. So I did a complete reinstall of Ubuntu using the 'Something Else' option and reformatting the ext4 partition.
