Error during installation of Ubuntu 14.04 (errorno 5)

Asked by fredrik runo

Ubuntu 14.04 x64 crashes during installation getting files after chosing partition options. Have tried numerous times with different partition altertatives. Have downloaded and mounted the .iso 4 times on a USB stick using the Universal-USB-installer, formating the USB each time, using torrent the last time to minimize the possibility of corrupt code.

The target boot disk is a Corsair CSSD, 60gb. Have also tried installing to a partition on a regular 1tb Samsung HDD.

I am out of ideas.

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?

No i did not MD5 test the ISO. But i dowloaded it four times using torrent the last time. Codes corrupting during download is not as big of an issue today as it was in 2004. The problem, for me, was solved in any case. Thanks.

Bad ISOs still happen and is why ALL Ubuntu ISOs have MD5sum provided.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuHashes

Why waste time maintaining this page if it's 'not such a big issue'. It is and still needs verifying
