Can't boot ubuntu-studio 10.10 from USB stick

Asked by Mark Brophy

I made a bootable image of Ubuntu Studio 10.10 on a memory stick using a 2009 Ubuntu. I receive the error, "Could not find kernal image" when I boot and a "boot:" prompt. I have a syslinux directory with a syslinux.cfg file containing:
# D-I config version 2.0
include menu.cfg
default vesamenu.c32
prompt 0
timeout 0
ui gfxboot bootlogo

How can this syslinux.cfg be repaired so that the system boots?

To md5sum check the downloaded iso:
  See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM
Did you burn the cd as slowly as possible?
  See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto
Did you select the media check before trying to install to check the cd
 http://zootlinux.blogspot.com/2010/05/check-disc-for-defects-in-ubuntu-1004.html
Did you ever do a "memory check" (another menu choice) on your PC.
Doing the above can save you a lot of time struggling with a bad install media.

Bet it's bad. If you don't test the ISO you have no way of knowing the data you downloaded was complete or consistent. Instead of asking how something is done when you see a foreign term, try researching a little YOURSELF. It will not only make you more autonyous but will also get things moving faster as you are not waiting for others to fill you in when you can easily find the links above with simple search terms in a search engine.

The page you referred me to has hashes for various versions of Ubuntu, but
not Ubuntu Studio. Where is the hash for Ubuntu Studio 10.10? I couldn't
find it using a Google search.

This is exactly why its the very first thing we'll ask if people have issues. Many don't. Please remember to MD5 test in future. It saves a lot of time and effort
