spam

Binary package hint: thunderbird

Dear People:

Could you please do something to block this annoying SPAM? It uses a different sender address for each SPAM, but there are sufficient duplications in words etc.to spot it, which for some reason your filters don't actoivate. Here's a sample of the address they use:

<email address hidden>

They mostly send SPAMS about Google Earth sites, but they also try VoiCP and Movie Downloads etc. - and they arrive every day. Damned nuisance. And they're the only SPAMMERS who get through ...

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#When%20not%20to%20file%20a%20bug.

Hi,

The spam filter in Thuderbird is a filter that needs to be TRAINED. This means that it does not work perfectly from the beginning. Everyday you have to mark manually the spams, and (very important) to indicate all false positive (no-spam messages marked as spam by the filter). The training process can last for a few days to a few weeks, depending on the amount of emails you receive. But after this, as far as I can tell, filtering is close to perfect.

Can you help with this problem?
