Remove global menu in Thunderbird 24

Asked by Dmitrii Motitskii

I had purged thunderbird-globalmenu package from my system and I had a "traditional" menu for TB.
But after upgrading to Thunderbird 24 (some months ago) global menu is displayed again.

The question is: can I remove global menu from TB 24?

P.S. I tried to disable "Messaging Menu and Unity Launcher Integration" plugin, set "mail.tabs.drawInTitlebar" value to false, but nothing helped.

To get rid off the global menu in Thunderbird 24:

Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> General -> Config Editor

Search for "menubar" and set "ui.use_unity_menubar" to false by double-clicking on it.

BTW, you can disable the global menu in recent Firefox versions by editing the same key in "about:config".
