Email Client: Evolution or Thunderbird?

Asked by Warren Hill

I am finally going to upgrade to precise but have noticed that Evolution is no longer the default e-mail client. Thunderbird is but I note that Evolution is available in the Software center.

This is a new install on a fresh machine but I need to keep all me email history. Is there any advantage to changing to Thunderbird over Evolution?

In either case whats the easiest way to copy over all my emails?

They are different clients, that's all. If you are comfortable with Evolution then keep Evolution. An application being default installed doesn't make it any better than the alternatives.

You should have your emails backed up, you can then just install the new release and restore settings and emails easily.
