/root directory other permissions

Asked by Jose

/root directory has drwxr-xr-x (755) permissions. For security reasons, it will be perfect to change to drwxr-x--- (750) by default.

From installation, any user added to the system can check any of the files saved or cd to the /root directory. I think this is wrong and should be treated as a bug.

It installs like this as default you can change to what you like under root..changing it may in fact make more secure. But may cause bugs fix user policy to not allow it change directory t 750...it is up to owner and IT..I use user policies.

Thank you for your suggestion. However, the changes you are requesting aren't really a bug and require more discussion, which should be done on an appropriate mailing list or forum. http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community/mailinglists might be a good start for determining which mailing list to use

Could be a good change to make /root directory from 755 to 750 for security.

From installation, any user added to the system can check any of the files saved or cd to the /root directory. I think this is wrong and should be treated as a bug.
