Synaptic freezes

11.10 - synaptic was working until very recently then stopped;; application loads but when you take an action eg refresh packages list, check for updates , installl updates it freeszes ; CPU usage does up to 100%. and cant kill
I saw something on a PClinux forum that was similar and indicated a corrupt file was the cause and recommended deleting folders /files??

any suggestions (since I cant find anything similar) and i tied an insistal/reinstall without success and i have booted up in revery mode and run repair packages also unsuccesfully

every thing seems to work from the command line for apt-get etc.

Maybe filter newest bug reports which describe similar issues.
Try to reproduce the issue and in case report a new one:
ubuntu-bug synaptic
