Asked by Noam Davida

Hey Guys,

Any reason why easy_install package is missing from setuptools 39.0.1-2 , which shipped with Ubuntu 18.04?
Why was this taken out??!!

Thanks

The status of this shouldn't be 'answered' as it doesn't actually explain the reason why - the changelog states that it was removed but gives no reason.

I agree with Nick, this is an important package, why it was taken out?

Comment: There is a discussion about the pros and cons of using easy_install at https://stackoverflow.com/questions/3220404/why-use-pip-over-easy-install and a posting at https://twitter.com/jperras/statuses/18160589493 "Don't use easy_install, unless you like stabbing yourself in the face. Use pip."

Can you help with this problem?
