no sound

Asked by Mr_Driver

Hardware volume controls work fine, one sink listed in pacmd:

State: suspended
Reason suspended: IDLE

I inherited this computer with Ubuntu on it, just trying to figure it out. Have looked through the wiki, no apparent help there.

Thanks

I'm having the same issue, but I get "No PulseAudio daemon running, or not running as session daemon." when I run pacmd. I'm using the onboard sound for the Asus M2V-MX SE motherboard. Ubuntu Fourms are no help since I can't post a question there.

Still no volume control after I log in, but I have a working Volume bar on the log in screen. I noticed it when I rebooted.

Every tutorial for "fixing" PulseAudio leads to error messages about the packets requested being obsolete, or deleted from the repository. I'm beguinning to think I may have to break down and buy an upgrade for Windows............
