Internet Connection Problem

Asked by amu174

I am having my own Internet cafe using MS-Windows on all machines. I want to try Ubuntu 8.01 which I have got from my friend. I have successfully installed ubuntu on dual-boot on one machine to try it for my customers. The next thing is to connect this only machine on already working network of MS-Windows machines. I am using BSNL Braodband router, LAN connections to connect my machines on Internet.
I am new to use this and according to documentation I have tried sudo pppoeconf command from terminal. The error I have got is
pppoeconf concentrator is not able to find any concentrator due to some one is already using pppoe.

Please provide me technical support in datail and please say may I use such type of Network for Internet on which MS-Windows and Ubuntu both will work. So It happens and if my customers are get practice on Ubuntu, I am tring to kick-off MS from my Internet Cafe.

Do you have to use PPPoE connection to get connected? After a quick search it looks like your BSNL Braodband router should take care of that. If the latter is the case then you should just connect your computer to the router or a network switch and you should be online.

Can you open a terminal and type ' ifconfig ' and paste the output here?

Can you help with this problem?
