How to remove ppp from autostart

Asked by Dmitry Shachnev

I used DSL connection configured with pppoeconf, but now I have a router so I don't need it anymore. However, when I click on Network Manager i see something like "Wired connection - device can't be managed", and I don't see Auto Eth0 to click on it (but it exists!).
How to remove ppp from autostart and restore NM default Auto Eth0 connection? (I tried to remove ppp lines from /etc/network/interfaces, but it deedn't help).

The problem was fixed by changing "iface eth0 inet manual" > "iface eth0 inet dhcp" in /etc/network/interfaces.
But I still don't see NM logo in notification area.

This was solved by removing both eth0 lines from /etc/network/interfaces.
