IRC not shown in join chat list

Asked by Kruptein

I was always able to join a chat with my IRC.freenode account by doing CTRL-C or buddy-list -> join chat
but today I did as a command in my irc chat window: /quit and now the freenode account is not anymore listed in the join chat accounts. although it is enabled under accounts -> manage accounts...

what have I done wrong/what should I do?

thanks

Open Pidgin, go to "Accounts" and connect to the IRC account that you created for Freenode.

If you have accidently deleted the IRC account that you originally created for Freenode you can recreate it using the following method. Open Pidgin, go to "Accounts -> Add/Edit", and fill out the following fields.

* Protocol: IRC
* Screen name: (nickname)
* Server: irc.freenode.net
* Password: (nickname password)

As you can see from my post, my IRC account is enabled (so it is not deleted)
and there is nothing like a connect button in "Accounts"

You should probably check if you are marked as online or offline, when you typed quit, you may be marked offline for freenode account.
