My spell checker has the wrong version of English

The spell checker on both FF and OpenOffice uses the GB dictionary for spelling. I prefer to use the USA version as I mostly communicate with people here in the US and I get funny looks when I use GB spellings in my docs. I thought it was a problem on my part that I screwed up, but I just installed Ubuntu10.04 on a different machine and I still have GB instead of USA English. How do I get USA spelling back in my spell checker?
