How can I install Ubuntu to a clean H/D, from the CD?

Asked by Ernesto

I'm trying to install Ubuntu, on a clean H/D. During the intallation process, i'm able to complete steps 1-5, but once I get to step 6 nothing really happens.

Is there a way to install the OS manually? How do I format the H/D to ready it for the installation?

Any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Ernesto Hernandez

Hm. Exactly what is step 6? Partitioning? See if your CD is correctly downloaded and try using the failsafe installation.

Gabriel,
Thank you very much for your prompt response. Step 6 is partitioning and it just doesn't work for me. I got the CD in the mail, but that doesn't mean isn't bad. I'll try using the failsafe installation and see how it goes.
Again, thank you very much for all your help,
Ernesto
