Touchpad not working IdeaPad-3-14IIL05

Asked by IRFAN

Touchpad is not listed in Xinput list. I have tried Kernals 5.4.0.42.46, 5.4.0.26.30, 5.3.18, 5.4.48, 5.6.0, 5.7.15, 5.8.1. Touchpad is not working in any of these kernals. But it is working in windows 10 dual boot.

Try the boot option:
irqpoll

Or:
i8024.nomux=1

Or:
i8024.reset

Or even a combination

Could you please tell me how to do it?

Run:
sudo gedit /etc/default/grub

Find this line:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

Add the option in the quotes. Eg:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash i8024.nomux=1"

Save the new file, close gedit and run:
sudo update-grub

Reboot to test. If you get no, mouse pointer with the pad you can launch a terminal using CTRL + ALT + T and use:
sudo nano /etc/default/grub

to edit in the terminal. Use CTRL + X to exit and save.

I tried this. But this method is not solving the problem.

Did you try the other boot options?

Does your keyboard have a shortcut or switch to enable / disable the touch pad?

I tried all three and a combination of all.
No, Keyboard is not having shortcut/switch to control touchpad. As I told, touchpad is not even listed in Input devices.

Is it enabled in BIOS?

I have checked BIOS. I think everything is fine. If there is any specific setup in BIOS, let me know about it. In my windows dual boot touchpad is working.
