How to set ntfs label to default by ntfsprogs?

Asked by Eric Sun

I used ntfsprogs to change my ntfs partition's label. Since then ubuntu couldn't auto-mount the ntfs partition when start-up. Also I couldn't click the partition's name to mount it like I did before. So I want to undo the action of changing label using ntfsprogs. Is there any way to do that?

Thank you

You could remove the label. Partitions are by default unlablelled.

Thank you for the answer, but how exactly should I do that?
I removed the label of the partition in windows 7, but in ubuntu, I still can't auto-mount or mount-by-click the partition even if the partition's name is the same as before. By the way, when I tried to mount the partition by clicking it, ubuntu told me
"Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 1: helper failed with:
mount: only root can mount /dev/sda2 on /media/HDD"
Is it because ntfsprogs change any setting of ubuntu so that ubuntu can't mount the partition without root anymore?

Then prepend the mount command with sudo

Can you help with this problem?
