Sorry but this is not enough information to help you :(
If you cannot play anything in any music or video player then it is not an Amarok problem.
And what happens? Do you just get no sound? Or do the applications not work at all?
Did you maybe make a mistake when plugging in the normal speakers after using the headphones?
Does a restart of your computer fix it?

First of all thnks for such speedy reply ;).....Ya i know that it not a problem in amarok.but while filling the bug report i was asked to be specific ...so chose it.
->To be honest i can't play in any player that i have downloaded..say xine, movie player,juk,rhythmbox....though i can hear a faint buzzing sound in amarok when vol is maximum....and regarding video files...the video stream is cluttered, though problem was there even before i plugged the heaphones....

->And about your question of whether did i plug in the wrong socket....no i didn't.....i say this because i can play music and video files on WIN XP which i dont like to,but have to now ..I love Ubuntu!!!

->I look forward to our suggestion.....

cheers....
