NM don't show wlan0 with Prop Driver

I've installed the (proprietary) Driver for my AVM FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick (popular in Germany) that supports WPA(2).
The first time NM works great just make && make install and it works, but after a reboot NM don't show Wireless connections, just the Wired.

iwconfig says that the device is there and sudo iwlist wlan0 scan works fine, but NM still ignores the device.

Normally I could use another Wifi manager, but NM is the only one that supports %$§"!() in the WPA Key.

It seams to be a bug in NM, so is anyone able to fix it ?

Thanks for your question, to try resolving your problem I need to know the cipset of your wi-fi pen usb, you can put it in the bus and than do in a shell:

$: lsusb

I don't know very well your card, I search on the net ;)

Here is what lsusb says:

Bus 003 Device 004: ID 057c : 6201 AVM GmbH

The curious thinks is, that it works once and from there was no card/stick listed

The card only sells in Germany. NM supports this card very well, sice it works fine one time, but the problem is just the next boot...

OK, try to use it and after open your /var/log/syslog and /var/log/messages and post last line abiut nm.

The Stick first mounts as a selfinstall CD-Rom, than dismounts and starts up the interface

They don't have an answer to this problem,
 they recommend the ndiswrapper, but the whole System freeze when I attach the Stick, but NM notice that a wlan dev is there..

Do you notice anythink special in the logfiles ?

This part say it's all ok, your ubuntu load correctly the module, there is not ptoblem, in the net all use ndiswrapper, I ask help on irc. Wait, thanks

I solved the Problem: I installed Opensuse on the mashine. Not my favorite but Ok.

Hm.
The AVM linux driver for the WLAN USB stick is relatively new, so most help pages in the net still refer to the use of the Windows drivers and ndiswrapper (and *disabling* NM when doing that, IIRC).
The AVM linux driver says it's for SuSE, but on my Feisty system it compiles and loads nicely.

However, for now I can't get it to work, not even without encryption, and tried both with and without network manager. It won't even do a "iwlist wlan0 scan" anymore, although it did that at one point. My syslog looks pretty identical to yours.
Maybe I'll try the ndiswrapper alternative, but not today.
