Can't connect my Wireless BroadCom BCM 4318 to Belkin Broadband Wireless Router

Asked by Doc Shillington

I've got a Dell Latitude D810 with a BroadCom BCM 4318 Wireless Lan Contoller that will not connect to my Belkin Wireless Router.
When I'm on Belkin's set up page, there is a different set of security settings than what shows up with this program.
Any ideas?????
Thank you,
Doc

Doc, I am confused. You state "When I'm, on Beklin's set up page, there is a different set of security setting than what shows up with this program".

1. what other program is this?
2. what security settings are you talking about?
3. Does the bcm4318 work at all? What wireless drivers do you use (i.e. ndiswrapper or bcmxxx)?

BTW, please be aware that you can either use ndiswrapper or the native bcmxxx driver, but not both at the same time.

I used "bcm43xx-fwcutter" to get my Broadcom wireless card working on my Acer laptop. When it asked for the driver location I let it search for it on the internet and it worked. I had tried previously to use drivers I had that came with it and they would not work. I have no problems connecting to anything now.

Hi, Background: I am a linux newbie who decided to completely install linux 2009 ubuntu-kubuntu version on my macbook pro. So far everything is great -I am connected through my Broadcom ethernet network and I love ubuntu.
My problem is that the even though Hal Device manager recognizes my Altheros Wireless Communication A5418
802.11abgn Wireless PCI Express Adapter when I go to Hardware drivers or Network it does ntot seem to see it...nor when I use a software program like wireless kwifi does it see my wifi network called " linksys". My network is wpa2 and has a key.

What do I do?
owy?

Can you help with this problem?
