kmymoney2 crashes trying to create loan

Asked by heather

Hello all. I am new to ubuntu and to kmymoney. I am setting up kmymoney2 (1.0.0) for transfer from quicken. When I try to create a loan account, all goes well until it gets to the asset account dialog. Whether I choose to create and asset account or not, the program completely crashes when I hit the next button. I have tried several scenarios when I come to that dialog but no matter what happens, the program crashes and I lose all unsaved data (I have learned to save before I get to that section). Has anyone else experienced this and is there a fix?

Thanks in advance
Heather

You have compiled the 1.o tarball, right?
Unfortunately, there was a problem in that version when creating schedules for new accounts (that's the case with the loan account)
Our recommendation is to stay updated with a PPA provided by one of our users. Uninstall your current version and install from there: https://edge.launchpad.net/~claydoh/+archive

If you run kmymoney from a terminal then you will see intelligent output. You can use this output to log a bug.

I'd go with what Hei Ku recommends and use PPAs to install.

It is a known bug, no need to send further information. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. We let it slip through and we didn't realize the problem until after releasing 1.0. The release manager is preparing a new 1.0.1 tarball as we speak.

I do not think this solved the problem. I installed from PPA, or at least I think I did. Remember I am a new to linux. Is there an indicator I can use to determine whether I have the version from the PPA? When I followed the PPA instructions, i.e. adding the sources and reinstalling the package, I had the same crash occur twice. How long until 1.0.1?

a couple of days. I will see that the PPA gets updated.

Can you help with this problem?
