Beginning bank statement balance wrong when reconciling

Asked by reidun

Hi, I recently upgraded to .9 and this is the first time I have reconciled my bank account since the upgrade. The problem is that in the reconciliation box it comes up showing the beginning and ending balances as 1855.77, when they should be 1046.46 and 1003.88, according to my statement. I have never had to modify the beginning balance before, and the ending has always been empty in the old version. So I modify them to the correct numbers, then when I get to the ledger screen it says that 1855.77 has already cleared before I check any transactions off. So, consequently, even though my bank statement and KMyMoney have all the same transactions in them, I can't get KMyMoney to show a difference of $0 when I'm all done. Is there a way to go back and check the previous reconciliation amounts to make sure they didn't get somehow changed? How can I pinpoint the cause of this error?

Thanks!

There was a problem with reconciliation in the previous version. Since that was fixed, you now see a differences. Make sure that you see all transactions, or run a reconciliation report for all dates (depends on your version). You will see that there are transactions that need to be fixed.
First of all, do not modify the starting balance. And the transactions have not been changed, but they are calculated correctly now.

Thanks for your answer. How do I print the reconciliation report? Do I need to add a plugin or is it built right in? My version is 0.9.3-CVS. Thanks.

Go to Reports, and there you have a report that shows the reconciliation
status for your transactions.
Customize it to show only the account you are having troubles, and show all
dates.
You will most likely find some transactions with an odd date that has not
been reconciled.
