Sync kmymoney data file over a network

Asked by Stephen S. Harris

I've been using kmymoney for a while and I am happy with it. My problem is, I cant figure out how to sync a single data file between multiple computers over my network. I can access the network, find the data file, and open it with kmymoney on any
machine. however, when I go to save it, I can't find my network as an option in "save as". What am I missing?

Thanks for your help,
Shane

Is KDE aware of your network? Depending on the kind of network you have setup, you may have to add smb://<server>/<share> to the path to find your file.

Thanks for the response Hei Ku, I should have been more specific. Im not running a server, I just have three machines networked over a linksys router. The current data file is located on an external drive attached to the main desktop computer. But when Im using one of the laptops and I go to "save as" in kmymoney, I can't even find the network to locate the desktop. I thought maybe the path was labeled differently in kmymoney, but have yet to locate it.

Thanks again-

How are you sharingthat drive on your desktop?
My feeling is you are using Ubuntu, not Kubuntu, and KDE (which KMyMoney uses for this kind of stuff) is not aware of your network.

Can you help with this problem?
