Apparently there is no khelpcenter on my Ubuntu

Asked by tchap44

I'm trying to set up Kontact in Ubuntu 7.04 and have needed help several times but keep getting the following message: "Could not launch KDE Help Center; could not find service 'khelpcenter' " Can you tell me what to do?

Thanks.

Did you install Kubuntu? Do you have all of the KDE desktop environment installed or did you install only Kontact?

Thank you for responding. I have Ubuntu, but downloaded Kontact to use with
it. So are you saying that the help files are embedded in the KDE desktop
environment and I would have to use Kubuntu instead of Ubuntu to have access
to Kontact help?

Thanks.

The problem is that one. I suggest to use Evolution, it is good like kontact.

Thanks

The help files are not embedded in the KDE desktop environment but the
help browser is part of a separate package. So you should install the
package khelpcenter in order to view kontact's help.

go to synaptic package manager (system -> administration -> synaptic package manager)

click: KDE desktop environment in the left pane

select khelpcenter in the right pane (the check box)

in the small menu that pops up select "mark for installation"

click apply and you're done

Done that. khelpcenter is installed according to apt-get and synaptic, now why do all kde applications still say it's not there?

Can you help with this problem?
