todo data will not sync from kontact to palm pilot

Asked by Fíona

I synced my palm zire 31 to kontact (1.2.3) via kpilot (4.6.0). To my horror all data in calendar was erased from the palm and wasn't written to kontact.
I have a (not recent enough backup std.ics) and while the rest of the data (address etc) was written to both palm and computer (ubuntu edgy) the todo (or calendar) will not appear back on the palm (the data is in kontact).

How can I get the data back onto the palm?

I've tried full sync, hotsync and copy from pc to handheld in the hotsync settings in kpilot.
No luck!

I tried selecting /home/fiona/.kde/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics as calendar file instead of the standard ics in the general tab of settings for conduits todo organiser. I did the same for calendar, didn't help

hmm, well if you do ever recover the data, put it on an SD card or something, then get a file manager (i use FileZ) and copy the database file back onto the zire

FileZ appears to be windows software, I am using ubuntu. Do you use Filez via wine?
(I do have a backup file.)

This whole problem is very strange because I have used kpilot/kontact/ with ubuntu dapper server so I don't understand what's going wrong with the transfer of todo/calendar data.

I have solved my problem.
I discovered that there were two seperate /std.ics files, one in my home directory /home/fiona/std.ics and /home/fiona/.kde/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics.

When I discovered which of the two contained the data (/home/fiona/std.ics) I removed the other file.
I put the /home/fiona/std.ics into the /home/fiona/.kde/share/apps/korganizer/ path and it worked.
Kpilot obviously needs to have the kontact .ics file in it's path.

I hope that this is clear and therefore help others with the same problem.
