How can i activate my web-cam for taking photo and video?

I am not accessing my web-cam in Ubuntu whereas accessing in vista.
What is the reason??

It depends if your webcam is supported in Ubuntu. Did you check for compatibility with Linux? With what application did you try to check if it's working?
