plasmoids

Right click on the desktop, "unlock widgets" if they are locked. Then right click again on any edge or area on your desktop and "add panel". You should then click on the right end of the panel to add widgets (plasmoids) on it.

Thank you. I am certainly better off than I was. I spent some time
trying as you suggested, but was unable to get back to anywhere near the
original. All I was able to do was get the application launcher at the
bottom center of my screen. Any other widget that I select gets put
under that. A picture is worth a thousand words;

Did you add a panel? If you add a panel, you can click the palette icon on it and you can stretch it, adjust its dimensions. Also in this "palette" icon menu, you can add widgets. After you add widgets, you can move the widgets on the panel, change their places.

I added a panel, and added widgets as you suggested. The only problem now is it is at the top of my screen. I can't figure out how to get it, or do the same at the bottom of my screen. I can live with it at the top, but I really would like to have it at the bottom.

Never mind, I figured it out. It is now at the bottom. And, thank you again for your help
