I am a newcomer to Kubuntu. My version is 804 (64-bit AMD). My C is Acer with ATi Radeon Express 1100. When I try to play MP3 music on Amarok it says to install manually libxine1-ffmpeg. When I tried to instal by downloading it was giving error.

My Kubuntu is 804.
I want to play MP3 music on Amarok.
Pl guide me as to how to instal manually libxine1-ffmpeg

Hello there

As per ur suggestion I inserted the command in the
terminal(Applications-System-Konsole-Terminal Program). But when I
try to play one MP3 recoding from my hard drive, I am still getting
the msg 'install libxine1-ffmpeg manually'.

Try this command in your terminal "sudo apt-get install libxine1-ffmpeg" leave the Quotes off.

When I gave the command it says "it says libxine1-ffmpeg not
available etc.

How do I get the package? I have already installed it through Adept.

hi friends. Thanx for the help.

The problem is solved by HODGE (FEB 22 ANSWER). I changed the preference in the K Mixer to SURROUND SOUND AND voila! the sound started working. Simultaneously one should switch off the FRONT MIC (OUTPUT) in the KMix Mixer window (SHOW MIXER WINDOW OPTION OF THE SOUND BUTTON).
