package kdelibs5-data 4:4.4.2-0ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: corrupted filesystem tarfile - corrupted package archive

Asked by Shivram Latpate

while updating from Ubuntu-10.4 to 10.4 LT, if we left it happening without actual present to respond,
After few hours, system couldn't boot saying unable to get /dev/SomeFile.

On doing 'sudo apt-get -f install' I could able to re-install the update.
Otherwise GUI had crashed. So that was deep trouble.
Please see if this issue could be solved such that if repose to the update manager hasn't given in time,
it should keep waiting instead of going into some incorrect/corrupted state. Thanks.
